To maintain or enhance the value of tall tussock communities within areas primarily managed for conservation purposes

MANAGEMENT GUIDELINE:
- No grazing
- Establish a buffer zone to protect grassland from the management impacts of neighbouring grasslands (e.g. seed and fertiliser drift, grazing, fire risk etc.).
- In open grasslands, ecological restrictions would be a option
- No burning unless necessary for woody weed control
- Weed control
- High altitude sites are less likely to be weedy, although where significant disturbance has occurred, weeds such as Hieracium and exotic conifers may be present. At lower altitudes sites are more likely to be weedy, especially where significant disturbance has occurred.
for more information on weed control.
- Animal pest control
- Monitor to determine success of the management option, and status of weed and animal pest populations.
