Managing Blue wheat grass and Rytidosperma grassland ( Elymus and Rytidosperma spp.) within a pastoral system

MANAGEMENT GUIDELINE:
Little information on this grassland community is available. However, ecologists have noted that blue wheat grass is palatable to stock, making it vulnerable to intensive levels of grazing. Where grazing impacts are significant, blue wheat grass tussocks become restricted to rocky knolls, inaccessible to stock.
In low input (unimproved pastoral areas of grassland low stock rates (0.2-0.4 su/ha/yr) allow maintenance of the grasses.
- Monitor to determine success of the management option, and status of weed and animal pest populations.
