Is the grassland located above or below the natural treeline?

The boundary between the and altitudinal environments is defined by whether native trees can or used to grow there (natural). This is largely determined by temperature. At a South Island wide scale, this is reflected in an area's latitude, and distance from the sea. Grasslands would have naturally grown above the tree line.

To help you decide whether the grassland is located above or below the natural treeline, answer the following questions which relate to the geographic location of the grassland.
