Managing Alpine Fescue Tussock (Festuca matthewsii) tussocks within a pastoral system

NOTE: The slower plant growth response that occurs at higher altitudes make it less economic to apply and maintain the fertiliser inputs required in such pastoral developments (eg. Lotus oversowing).

  • This tussock grassland community will tolerate light grazing.
  • Monitor to determine success of the management option, and status of weed and animal pest populations. for more information on monitoring in tussock grasslands.

  • Altitude: High (Above the natural)
