Managing Fescue tussock (Festuca novae-zealandiae) communities within a pastoral system

Areas with moist growing conditions are likely to have different management needs to those which are dry (e.g. semi-arid basins of Central Otago, MacKenzie Basin; and Marlborough, Canterbury Plains).

Does the grassland generally have moist growing conditions and soils, or dry conditions where the soils have a significant moisture deficit?
